INTERIM SENIOR MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, with a focus on R&D expense classification, clinical trial accruals, and PO accruals.
• Oversee monthly close, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Collaborate with FP&A and department leaders to support G&A, R&D, and clinical operations budget tracking.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support SOX readiness and audit preparedness.
• Manage operational accounting processes and ensure proper treatment of complex vendor and CRO agreements.
• Oversee equity accounting including stock-based compensation, equity plan activity, and coordination with HR and Legal.
• Support annual audit and tax engagements, including preparation of schedules and liaison with external advisors.
• Assist in accounting system optimization efforts.
• Prepare documentation for financial disclosures and support investor/internal reporting.
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and process improvements across the finance function.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of operational accounting experience.
• Clinical trial accrual experience required; PO accrual experience preferred.
• Prior experience in biotech, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industry required.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, including R&D and equity accounting.
• Experience supporting SOX-compliant environments is a plus.
• Experience with NetSuite preferred; familiarity with equity platforms also a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
