Job Description

APGFCU – Your Community Credit Union! For over 80 years, APGFCU has shared our financial experience and provided valuable products and services to build stability and financial independence, one member at a time. We are looking for those who want to join this movement and become a part of a growing organization. We offer competitive pay and great benefits.

Summary: The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) plays a key role in shaping the future of learning at APGFCU. This position leads the design and delivery of innovative, scalable, and high-impact learning experiences that support employee growth across onboarding, frontline sales and service, leadership development, and digital upskilling. As a strategic partner in transforming APGFCU’s learning culture, the LXD leverages data-driven insights and learner-centric design to drive engagement and performance. Ideal candidates are creative, tech-savvy, and thrive in fast-paced, purpose-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Experience Strategy & Design

  • Lead the design of scalable, learner-centered experiences using adult learning theory and design thinking.
  • Develop blended learning journeys tailored to specific roles and business goals.
  • Create and maintain design standards, templates, and style guides for consistency that reflect diverse learner needs.

Digital Content Development

  • Design interactive eLearning, microlearning, and video content using tools like Articulate, Vyond, Camtasia, and Canva.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to script, storyboard, and produce engaging learning modules.
  • Ensure accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and SCORM/xAPI compliance.
  • Script, storyboard, and develop learning modules based on collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Support learning content delivery through integration with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or microlearning platforms (e.g., Axonify).

Learning Technology & Ecosystem

  • Support LMS implementation and optimization with a focus on UX and learner pathways.
  • Align content structure, metadata, and tagging to support searchability and personalization.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Use learner feedback and performance data to iterate on content and delivery.
  • Contribute to learning impact evaluation using Kirkpatrick and other measurement frameworks.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with L&D, HR, and business leaders to align learning with strategic priorities.
  • Mentor peers on instructional design tools and best practices.

Other:

  • Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or related field is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate, Vyond), instructional design, or learning evaluation (e.g., Kirkpatrick) are a plus.

Required:

  • 5 years of experience in instructional design, Learning Experience Design (LXD), or learning content creation.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing digital learning projects across various formats and industries.
  • Proficiency in tools like Articulate Rise/Storyline and at least one video or graphic tool (e.g., Camtasia, Vyond, Canva).
  • Strong grounding in adult learning theory and Instructional Design (ID) models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, backwards design).
  • Experience working within LMS platforms (e.g., ADP, Cornerstone, Docebo, TalentLMS, LMS365, Workday).

Preferred:

  • Experience designing for diverse learning audiences, including frontline, leadership, and remote employees.
  • Experience with developing eLearning courses in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Experience in a credit union or financial services setting.
  • Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI, mobile learning, and accessibility compliance.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced learning tools or adaptive learning platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of microlearning, gamification, or AI-driven personalization.
  • Comfort working across ambiguity, evolving strategies, and changing priorities.
  • Fluency in digital design tools.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, purpose-driven environments.

What Success Looks Like:

  • New learning programs launch on time with strong adoption and positive feedback.
  • Team members are supported with templates, assets, and design coaching.
  • Employees experience learning as simple, useful, and empowering.
  • Business leaders view Learning & Development as a strategic partner, not just a training provider.
