Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) empower our students for lifelong success by building strong character, promoting academic excellence, and generating public service throughout Washington D.C. Center City staff are teachers, mentors, and leaders, and they play an important role in ensuring each of our students maximize their potential. Our network serves over 1,400 students annually at our six campuses, located across the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals. The Principal , under the supervision of the Managing Director of Schools, will demonstrate proficiency in four competencies: Transformational Leadership, School Cultural Leadership, Instructional Leadership, and Systems and Operations Leadership. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in core literacy and math content, research based instructional strategies, and standards-based instruction. The principal provides support and technical assistance to staff and families to improve students learning. Transformational Leadership Communicates a clear and compelling vision of rigorous academic and behavioral expectations and inspires staff to embrace it Creates a school-wide culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, in which staff members and students give and solicit constructive feedback Maintains mental focus, energy and resilience in the face of obstacles School Cultural Leadership Establishes a college-going culture within which academic achievement and growth is celebrated above all else Plans and implements activities and systems that communicate rigorous academic and behavioral expectations aligned to character, excellence, and service for all students Implements school-wide rituals and systems that promote positive behavior and increased learning time Instructional Leadership Ensures consistent and effective implementation of high-impact instructional practices Ensures consistent and high-quality implementation of district-wide curriculum and assessments Creates a culture of data-driven instruction using data to guide school-wide decisions Creates opportunities for ongoing learning and staff development that are informed by data Systems and Operations Leadership Executes school operations that ensure minimal disruptions to teaching and learning and promotes the success of all students and staff Leads teacher and staff recruitment, development, and retention efforts for their campus Organizes time, money and resources to address student needs and priorities Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of urban teaching and/or leadership experience A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (Education, Business, Policy, etc.) or equivalent experience in school leadership Experience leading school data teams, analyzing data, and producing relevant reports (use of Excel, Access, etc.) Experience providing staff development in both group- and one-on-one settings Exemplary interpersonal skills and an understanding of adult learning strategies to serve as a mentor and leader Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, and oral and written communication skills A commitment to excellence at every level and the highest quality education for each student A strong work ethic, willingness to work as a part of a team, sense of humor, and ability to remain optimistic Seniority level Seniority level Director Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Education and Training Industries Education Administration Programs Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Center City Public Charter Schools by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “School Principal” roles.
