Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This Personal Trainer position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Personal Trainers are responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising specific exercise prescriptions for individuals with different fitness levels, medical concerns, and/or different age populations. The Personal Trainer will demonstrate competency in exercise prescription for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The Personal Trainer must have excellent interpersonal skills, solid coaching, and teaching skills, show initiative and demonstrate courtesy and respect toward others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Obtain CPR/First Aid/AED training within 30 of hire if not already certified.
3. Passion for and knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as strong relationship building skills.
5. Excellent organizational and planning skills.
6. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
7. Ability to work with HIPAA standards of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion.
8. Ability to relate and interact with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Remains calm in challenging situations.
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Personal training certification required . Must currently hold certification and obtain one of the following organizations certifications within 12 months of hire:
1. ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine)
2. NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)
3. NATA (National Athletic Trainer's Association)
4. ISSA (International Sports Science Association)
a. Must obtain CPR/First Aid/AED training within 30 days of hire if not already certified.
b. Must be at least 18 years of age.
